  1. Short:    V2.12 AmigaDos Version replacement.

  6. VersionWB is a replacement for the usual AmigaDos Version command,
  7. which also may check the version of packed files by utilizing
  8. the XfdMaster.library if available.
  9.  
  10. If you want the version information to be presented in
  11. a requester, this program is for you. Instead of
  12. like c:version just tell the version and revision number
  13. by default, VersionWB always tells you all it could find.
  14.  
  15. VersionWB have these features:
  16.  
  17. * It will bring up a requester with the version information.
  18.  
  19. * It support several files in the command line parameter template.
  20.  
  21. * You can shift-doubleclick an icon with VersionWB and
  22.   then get all that version stuff.
  23.  
  24. * You may also pick the file you want to know the version number of
  25.   by using a file requester.
  26.  
  27. * It will find version strings in WB1.3 libraries and devices,
  28.   c:version does not, e.g. narrator.device.
  29.  
  30. * If you use it with ToolManager you can have an appicon in
  31.   your Workbench. Drop the icon on the appicon, and the
  32.   version information will be presented (if the file contains a
  33.   version string :-)
  34.  
  35. * It also has an optional text output.
  36.  
  37. * It recognizes any packed file (uses xfdmaster.library).
  38.  
  39. * All other features of AmigaDos Version, as far as I know 8-).
  40.  
  41. * Can be opened on a publicscreen
  42.  
  43. * Can set the filenote of files to there versioninfo.
  44.  
  45. * Can set the filedate to the one found in the version string
  46.

  51. V.2.12 (05.12.1999) PUBLIC UPDATE
  52. -------------------------------
  53. BUGFIX: The change in v2.11 with the TEXT argument broke a few scripts, e.g.
  54. VersionCopy.dopus distributed with VersionWB. Those scripts should now work again.
  55. NEW: VersionComp.dopus5 script for Dopus 5.5+ was added to the
  56. distribution. It was made by Wolfgang Breisch.
  57. BUGFIX: Fixed problem with XPK-packed files that could not be unpacked, due
  58. to missing resources.

  60. V.2.11 (27.11.1999) PUBLIC UPDATE

  62. BUGFIX: Still crashed sometimes. Recompiled VersionWB with ECv3.3a instead of ECv3.1i.
  63. BUGFIX: Doing versionwb c:versionwb LIKECVER did not output the bugfix revision letter
  64. (i.e. 'b' as in 2.10b).
  65. BUGFIX: If LIKECVER is set the output shall always be compatible to Amiga Inc Version.
  66. But if TEXT was added to the command line or VERSIONWB_PARAM environmental variable
  67. it wasn't.
  68. The meaning of the TEXT argument now is that text shall be output in any format, i.e
  69. Amiga Inc Version format or VersionWB format.
  70. NEW: Now uses the four digit year format (27.11.1999 instead of 27.11.99) again in
  71. its version string, formely only supported by VersionWB.
  72. Now also V44 (OS3.5) of AmigaDos Version supports it.

  74. V.2.10b (06.11.99) PUBLIC UPDATE

  76. BUGFIX: Recompiled VersionWB with an older version of the compiler. Some weird
  77. crashes introduced with v.2.10. disappeared and the executable is now smaller in size.

  79. V.2.10a (05.11.99) PUBLIC UPDATE

  81. BUGFIX: Removed Enforcer-hit on 040+ systems. Bug probably also caused trouble,
  82. like freezing, on pre 040 systems.

  84. V.2.10 (31.10.99) PUBLIC UPDATE

  86. NEW: Removes non-printables from the misc-field.
  87. NEW: New-button added to the requester. Press it to do a new version search.
  88. BUGFIX: It didn't recognized packed files that cannot be loaded with
  89. LoadSeg(). Now it shall recognize all crunch algorithms that
  90. xfdmaster.library can handle, including XPK.
  91. BUGFIX: There was a space to much between the version number and the date.
  92. BUGFIX: Only the name and the version number without any letters shall be printed
  93. if LIKECVER is set. Should be compatible with standard C:version now.
  94. BUGFIX: If FULL was set together with LIKECVER the output was not fully
  95. compatible with original C:version.
  96. BUGFIX: If LIKECVER was set in the VERSIONWB_PARAM but the argument TEXT
  97. was given then only one line was printed.
